Lishi tools are premium, precision-engineered 2-in-1 automotive locksmith tools that combine a keyway decoder and a lock pick into a single handheld device. They allow technicians to non-destructively open vehicle doors and read the internal wafer depths to cut a replacement key without pulling the lock cylinder apart.

Brief Instruction Manual

Preparation: Spray a high-quality, electrical-grade lubricant or contact cleaner into the keyway to clear out grime and debris.
Insertion: Fully retract the tool’s lifter arms and pointer grids so they lay flat, then gently slide the main blade completely into the lock cylinder.
Apply Tension: Flip out the built-in tension arm and apply light, steady turning pressure in the direction required to unlock the vehicle.
Locate and Test Wafers: Move the lifter pointer along the numbered grid channels to locate individual wafer positions. Gently press up or down on each wafer to test resistance.
Set the Wafers: If a wafer feels springy, leave it alone and move to the next. If a wafer feels solid and rigid (binding), apply careful pressure until you feel a distinct “click” and it becomes springy. Repeat this step sequentially until the cylinder turns and unlocks.
Decode: With the lock held in the picked/turned position, navigate the lifter pointer through each numbered station. The pointer line will rest directly over a corresponding numbered line on the depth chart, revealing the exact cut depth for each space. Record these values to cut a new key.

Technical Tips

Master the “Light Tension” Rule: Automotive wafers are highly sensitive. Applying excessive tension will bind the system too tightly, giving false feedback, causing false sets, or permanently bending the fragile picker tip.
Always Clear the Shutter: Ensure the lock’s spring-loaded dust shutter is not trapping the lifter arm during insertion. Forcing the tool past an improperly opened shutter will break the tool tip.
Convert Lettering to Numbers: Some internal tool configurations use alphabetical markings (A, B, C, D) for depth. Remember to convert these when entering data into your key-cutting machine (typically A=1, B=2, C=3, D=4).

Importance of Tech Support

Navigating Keyway Inconsistencies: Car manufacturers frequently update vehicle lock structures, split cuts, or alternate side-milling depths within the same year model. Reliable distributor tech support helps locksmiths correctly match specific car models to the exact Lishi tool profile required.
Decoding Software Integration: Translating a raw Lishi wafer decode into a working code often requires proprietary locksmith database software (like InstaCode). Support staff assist users when code software profiles conflict with actual physical readings.
Tool Maintenance and Warranty Processing: Precision tools face heavy wear in cold, hot, or dirty environments. Quality customer support ensures locksmiths get immediate advice on tool calibration, replacement lifter arms, and valid warranty verification.
